This special-purpose transformer provides a neutral connection for earthing a three-phase network. It is part of the network earthing arrangement and is sized for the earth-fault current and its duration.
A secondary winding may also be provided to supply an auxiliary load. Sizing must be based on the network characteristics and earthing requirements.
