These ranges from the MWB catalogue are available from Tunisia for delivery to the port of São Tomé. References, required standards and quantities are confirmed in each offer; several product families can share a container, and small volumes can travel as groupage.

Building wires and cables, low-voltage power cables, sockets, switches and wiring devices. State the cross-sections, lengths and required standard.
Generator sets for buildings, shops and construction sites, water pumps and motor pumps. State the rating, voltage, standby or continuous use and the expected flow; the technical data sheet of each model comes with the offer.

The port of São Tomé, in Ana Chaves Bay, is the country’s main gateway; its container terminal has been entrusted since late 2023 to the operator AGL, alongside the port authority ENAPORT. Cargo ships work there alongside the quay or at anchor in the bay, and most cargo arrives in containers. The port is linked to the region by feeder services, for example from Bata in Equatorial Guinea: from Radès or Sfax, the route includes transhipment depending on the carrier. For Príncipe Island, customs introduced in 2025 a document for transferring goods from São Tomé.
Import documents
All imported goods must be accompanied by the bill of lading and the invoice. No import licence is required for ordinary products; permits are required for agricultural produce and for hazardous products, including chemicals. No electronic cargo tracking note (ECTN) appears for the country in the carrier and service-provider lists consulted in 2026: your freight forwarder will confirm that no tracking document is required for your shipment. MWB prepares the commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin and technical data sheets.
Inspection and conformity
The Customs Directorate processes declarations on ASYCUDA World; the new version, in service since May 2025, is also intended to allow duties to be paid electronically into the Treasury. The 2017 consumer protection law requires consumer information to be given in Portuguese, and importers are among those required to provide it: plan instructions, labels and data sheets in Portuguese for products sold at retail. No pre-shipment inspection programme appears in the sources consulted; to be confirmed with your freight forwarder.
What to specify
State the island and delivery point, São Tomé or Príncipe; the references, quantities and required standards; the rating and voltage of generator sets; the products intended for retail sale, to be labelled in Portuguese; and the preferred Incoterm, CFR or CIF delivered to the port of São Tomé, or FOB on request.
Availability, transport, lead times and documents are confirmed in each offer.

Your questions about importing into São Tomé and Príncipe from Tunisia
Is an ECTN required for São Tomé and Príncipe?
No electronic cargo tracking note appears for São Tomé and Príncipe in the carrier and service-provider lists consulted in 2026. Have your freight forwarder confirm this before loading: if a tracking document is required, it is prepared from the shipping documents provided by MWB.
Do ships berth at the port of São Tomé?
According to the port authority’s statistics for 2025, cargo ships work either alongside the quay or at anchor in Ana Chaves Bay. Containers from Tunisia arrive after transhipment depending on the carrier, for example on a feeder service from Bata: allow some margin in your schedule.
Does the country apply a Central African common tariff?
São Tomé and Príncipe is a member of ECCAS. A joint ECCAS-CEMAC common external tariff, adopted in October 2024 by the ECCAS member states, has applied in Cameroon since January 2026, but its application in São Tomé and Príncipe is not confirmed. Under the AfCFTA, the country’s schedule of tariff concessions was still undergoing technical verification in July 2025: your freight forwarder will confirm the duties applicable to each product.
In which language should instructions and labels be prepared?
In Portuguese: the 2017 consumer protection law requires consumer information to be given in that language, and importers are among those required to provide it. Mention in your enquiry which products are intended for retail sale.
Can you group several products or ship small quantities?
Yes, when the products and their packaging allow: cables, wiring devices and lighting, or tiles, sanitaryware and adhesives, can share a 20 or 40-foot container. Small volumes travel as groupage, and urgent small quantities can be sent by air from Tunis-Carthage on request.
