These ranges from the MWB catalogue are offered from Tunisia for delivery to the port of Mogadishu. References, required standards and quantities are confirmed in each offer; several product families can be grouped in the same container.
Electrical cables and wires
Low and medium-voltage power cables, control cables, building wires and cables. State the cross-sections, drum lengths and the standard required for your project.

HDPE and PVC pressure pipes for water supply, PVC drainage pipes, PPR pipes and fittings for plumbing. State the diameters, pressure ratings and lengths.
Containers leave from Radès (Tunis) or Sfax, with transhipment depending on the shipping line, for Mogadishu, the country’s main port, operated since 2014 by the Albayrak group under a concession; new container services opened there in 2026, and the port now works around the clock. The Somali Ministry of Commerce also lists Bosaso, in the north-east, operated by DP World, and Kismayo, in the south, among the entry points. According to a shipping line’s import instructions consulted in October 2026, containers are unstuffed inside the port of Mogadishu and do not leave it: the goods continue with the buyer’s own transport, which matters when choosing the packaging. Somali waters and the Gulf of Aden are on the marine insurers’ listed risk areas, updated in July 2026: a ship entering these areas incurs an additional insurance premium, which can weigh on freight costs.
Import documents
According to the notice of the Somali Ministry of Ports and Marine Transport reported in November 2025, cargo imported through the country’s ports must be covered, since late September 2025, by an electronic cargo tracking note (ECTN), obtained before loading on the official platform; its number appears on the bill of lading, and cargo without a valid ECTN is rejected. In Mogadishu, the port does not discharge containers whose bill of lading, issued since 10 January 2026, does not carry a valid ECTN; for another port, have your freight forwarder confirm the procedure. On the buyer’s side, the importer is registered and holds an import permit, checks the tariff code and applicable measures on the Ministry of Commerce’s trade information portal, then lodges the customs declaration (SOMSAD) with the Ministry of Finance and pays the duties at the port. For Mogadishu, a shipping line asks for the commercial invoice, the packing list and an original bill of lading.
Inspection and conformity
Since July 2023, the Somali Bureau of Standards (SoBS) has run a pre-export conformity assessment programme (CBCA), with stronger enforcement since 1 January 2025: unless exempt, regulated products are checked before export (document review against the applicable standards, physical inspection, laboratory testing where needed), and each consignment must be accompanied by a certificate of conformity, presented with the shipping documents at the port of entry. Without a valid certificate, goods may be held at the port, refused or penalised. In October 2026, SoBS lists TÜV Austria as an approved international partner of the programme; Bureau Veritas, which also issued these certificates, has not accepted applications since 1 October 2026 and will end this service at the end of 2026. Have your freight forwarder confirm the competent body for shipments from Tunisia before booking the inspection. We attach the technical data sheets of the products to our offer.
What to specify
References and quantities, required standards or specifications, port of arrival (Mogadishu or another port), packaging suited to unstuffing at the port, preferred language for labels and instructions, the freight forwarder handling the ECTN, the body chosen for the certificate of conformity, the insurance cover required, and the Incoterm: CFR or CIF Mogadishu, or FOB.
Availability, transport, lead times and documents are confirmed in each offer.

Your questions about importing into Somalia from Tunisia
Which cargo tracking document is needed for Somalia?
An electronic cargo tracking note (ECTN), required by the Somali Ministry of Ports and Marine Transport. It is obtained before loading on the official platform, and its number appears on the bill of lading. In Mogadishu, containers without a valid ECTN are not discharged for bills of lading issued since 10 January 2026.
Is a certificate of conformity required?
Yes for regulated products, unless exempt: under the Somali Bureau of Standards CBCA programme, each consignment is checked before export and accompanied by a certificate of conformity presented at the port of entry. Without a valid certificate, goods may be held, refused or penalised. The bodies issuing this certificate change at the end of 2026: have your freight forwarder confirm the competent body before shipment.
Does Somalia apply the EAC tariff or a COMESA preference?
Somalia has been a member of the East African Community (EAC) since 2024; according to its Ministry of Commerce, the alignment of its customs procedures and tariffs with those of the community is under way, and the sources consulted give no date for applying the common external tariff. It is also a member of COMESA, but according to the sources consulted it is not among the countries applying the COMESA free trade area with Tunisia. So do not count on a tariff preference for Tunisian origin without confirmation from your freight forwarder.
Does sea transport to Somalia need specific insurance?
Somali waters and the Gulf of Aden are on the marine insurers’ listed risk areas, updated in July 2026: a ship entering these areas incurs an additional premium, which can be passed on in the freight. On CIF terms, state the cover you require for the goods; on CFR terms, insuring the goods remains your responsibility. Check war and piracy risk cover with your insurer.
Can you group several products or ship small quantities?
Yes. Several product families, such as cables, pipes and tiles, can be grouped in the same 20 or 40-foot container. Small volumes travel as groupage, and urgent small quantities can be sent by air from Tunis-Carthage on request. We prepare the commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin and technical data sheets for the shipment.
