Importing into Togo from Tunisia through the port of Lomé

MWB TRADING handles enquiries from importers and companies in Togo, with supplies from Tunisia: bagged plaster and plasterboard, white cement, waterproofing products, tiles and transformers. Our offers are made delivered to the port of Lomé, on CFR or CIF terms, in full 20-foot containers or as groupage.

LOGISTICS AND DOCUMENTS

Importing through the port of Lomé

Ports and routes

Our containers leave from Radès (Tunis) or Sfax; our offers for Togo are made delivered to the port of Lomé. Lomé is also the gateway to Burkina Faso, Niger and Mali, via national road N1 to Cinkassé: our shipments for Burkina Faso were discharged there from 2021 to 2023. For delivery inland, state the receiving location.

Import documents

Since 1 December 2015, all shipments to Togo, transit included, must be covered by an electronic cargo tracking note (ECTN or BESC), validated before discharge at Lomé; its number normally appears on the bill of lading. Otherwise it can be regularised at destination, with penalties payable before delivery. For transit cargo, two notes are required: one for Togo and one for the destination country. The commercial invoice, packing list and certificate of origin complete the file.

What to specify

References and quantities, technical data sheets, packaging, delivery point in Togo or final destination country for transit, and preferred Incoterm.

Availability, transport, lead times and documents are confirmed in each offer.

YOUR QUESTIONS

Your questions about importing into Togo

Which cargo tracking document is needed for Lomé?

An electronic cargo tracking note (ECTN or BESC), mandatory since 1 December 2015 for all shipments to Togo, transit included. It is validated before discharge at Lomé and its number normally appears on the bill of lading.

What about goods in transit to Burkina Faso, Niger or Mali?

Two notes are required: one for Togo and one for the destination country. From 2021 to 2023, our shipments discharged at Lomé were in transit to Burkina Faso, with the transit notation on the bill of lading.

Do your containers already call at Lomé?

Yes. From 2021 to 2023, several of our shipments for Burkina Faso were discharged there, in 20-foot and 40-foot High Cube containers from Radès (Tunis) or Sfax.

Is a certificate of origin needed?

It is part of the file, with the commercial invoice and the packing list. To apply a preferential tariff, the Togolese Revenue Office (OTR) has required since September 2025 a copy and the number of the certificate of origin in the customs declaration.

Can you ship a small volume?

Yes, as groupage in a shared container: one of our offers for Lomé provided for transformers in this way. For larger volumes, we offer full 20-foot containers.
